San Diego Child Photographer (as if I could call this post that:P)

We have had a lot of rain here this spring, which is the best in my opinion.  That means green hills (this won’t last… they’ll turn yellow soon enough).  Spring also brings all three of my boys birthdays.  I have been dying to get into one of the canyons and do a shoot during the sunset hour with the green hills and full trees.  And I completely missed taking birthday pictures of the boys last year because everyday for a month or two, they would say, “No, tomorrow”… and then I never did it.  So the deal was the evening hike and photos of three birthday boys.

As you can imagine, everyone was thrilled with this idea.  I’ve never felt so much excitement exude from my children, ever.  Yah, it didn’t happen like that… at all.  And the clouds rolled in and it was kind of gloomy for that beautiful sunset hour.  But it still was pretty…. to me.  The boys reluctantly promise to do a few posed photographs (they currently duck their faces whenever my camera appears… not my little Slater though. He still loves it).

We come up to this meadow and I thought it would be perfect for all three boys blowing bubbles together.  And it was… except I was photographing my own children.  And any photographer can tell you that photographing your own family is pretty bad.  Especially if you are ‘trying’ to photograph your family.

Tucker starts with the bubbles.  It’s good.  Dallon takes over… still good.  Slater gets funny and climbs up Tucker. It’s cute.  They are having fun.  It’s candid. Love that.

And then Slater gets the bubbles and you might think I am about to show how all the bubbles spilled to the ground immediately or that blowing bubbles was too hard for a 3 1/2 year old.  No, look below and see how angelic Slater is.

Those two big boys took popping bubbles to a whole new level of competition.  Actually, I didn’t realize bubble popping was even competitive until now.

My favorite part is Slater just casually blowing bubbles while the chaos ensues around him.

And to be quite honest,  I love these photos more than I would ever love a perfectly posed, sun gleaming in behind three loving children type of photo.
