I love seeing the families I have photographed before, again. I think all child and family photographers do. When you photograph someone, you feel a connection to them from being so focused on them through the camera. Like you know something about them that others might not. It’s so fun to see how everyone has changed, especially when they were ‘kids’ the first time you saw them. And now they are teenagers. This family was a joy to photograph the first time, and equally great the second time. We chose San Dieguito park for our shoot this time. I have photographed a few families here in the morning hours, but I must say, the late afternoon was perfect with beautiful light coming through the trees.
I have to add that these early teen years are just as important as those baby years when changes seem to happen before your eyes. It’s amazing how much changes and how quickly in just a six month period of time, even as your kids get older. So don’t delay those family pictures because someone has braces or you might think it’s better ‘later’. Now’s the time… don’t miss this stage in your family’s life (trust me)!
