Condor’s Nest Concept Shoot

I love doing fun, out of the box photo shoots.  This shoot was set up in the most amazing place ever.  If you are getting married and want a place that is rustic and unique… this is the place.  We had lots of models and lots of photographers.  It was actually really hard to get the shots you wanted.  I think there were about 8 photographers per setting and we each had 5 minutes to get complete attention with the models.  I actually prefer people I am photographing to not look at me and direct them to do that often but there were some missed shots (lots) because I wasn’t in the right place or I needed a different lens.  Regardless… it was SO much fun and I am so happy I attended.  I will definitely do more shoots like that in the future. So here is a little slideshow of my very favorite images.

I’ve made a few changes to the blog and soon the changes will be on the main website too.  Trying out a new blog post and my guess is I will be experimenting with a few looks.  For now, here is a quick glimpse at Briana.

San Diego Fashion Photographer | Kay Lim Designs

I had an amazing opportunity to be a photographer photographing Kay Lim’s clothing line. Her designs are so great. I love clothing with details… little things added that make them unique.  And KayLim Designs are just that.  You have to go to her Etsy shop and check it out for yourself.

The models that I shot with were great and while I tried for about 5 minutes to use lights… I had to resort back to my comfortable natural light because I was missing too many shots.  I am determined to figure out how to use my  speedlights though… much harder to use than studio lights.  I wish I had time to photograph all of her designs.  It was so much fun trying something different.

And really, it should come to no surprise to myself that i love it.  I was a fashion design major for a year and a half until I realized I could not draw nor was I a perfectionist enough to consider myself a seamstress.  I also taught modeling in my early 20’s at John Robert Powers for just over a year (I never really modeled myself so teaching it was the next best thing). I even heavily contemplated opening my own modeling agency after that experience.  But  after getting married and having kids, I kind of ditched that part of my life.  Who knew it would enter again. I am really excited about the possibilities.  And if it is only photographing high school seniors and girls who just want to feel like a model for a day… I am all over it.  But this shoot and a couple that I have recently done have really opened my eyes to a few more possibilities in my photography career.

So a special thank you is in order for KayLim and her beautiful designs, Britt and Mucci for organizing such a fun shoot and all the models I photographed.
