San Diego Creative Senior Portrait Photographer

That’s a mouthful:) Whenever I say anything about photographing seniors, people always think I am talking about senior citizens. It cracks me up every single time. I thought I would share some images I took at a conference that was all about high school senior photography (and not the yearbook photo kind). One of the days we followed lead photographers around and watched them shot… and snuck in shots of our when we could. These were all done at the Hotel Del in Coronado.
So a bit about senior photography (the teenage kind)… I love love love this type of photography and am so excited to be offering it. I am pretty particular about what I shoot and so business is really built around families and now high school seniors. But I must add that it really isn’t all high school seniors. I think any teenager can benefit greatly from having a photoshoot all about them. I love the fashion aspect about these shoots and love how this age group is all about the coolest of the cool (Cool? is that not cool?). So if you or you know someone who would love a photo session and to have an amazing time… you know who to call!

These kids all won a trip to San Diego to be the models. They were all submitted by their photographer to enter into the contest. That would have been a dream come true for me at that age. All of the kids had a lot of fun (and by kid I mean 17 year old)

Sledding in Del Mar

Ok, not really sledding… the boys got these new boards for Christmas called Spooners. I think they are made here in San Diego. I had just done a shoot (sneak peek coming soon) in Del Mar at the beach and the sand was pushed up into big steep hills. Perfect for the boards. And today is amazingly beautiful. And I love the beach in December… love it. So I pulled my “Please don’t make us do anything but lay around the house” older boys and the fun loving “i’ll go anywhere” Slater to the beach. And this is what we did.
These were all shot with a little Sony cybershot… when you are used to full creative control with a very good camera, point and shoots kind of suck (and not really just kind of)
San Diego High School Senior Photographer | Hayley, Jodie, & Ann

In the last few months I have decided to narrow my focus in photography to families because I love photographing families and all their interactions and cuteness and love.
But I also LOVE photographing high school seniors. I begged my parents to send me to modeling school when I was a teen… begged. They finally did and I got to do a model shoot and I was so happy. I didn’t even care about the modeling part, I just wanted to do a photo shoot. At one time in my 5 majors career of college, I was a fashion design major. But I couldn’t draw worth anything and so I quit and moved onto social sciences or something in a completely different direction. Many other things contribute to my love of fashion photography but with that…
I am so happy to announce Photography by Alison: High School Seniors. And to start it off, here is a model shoot with three friends complete with make up artist, hair and styling (done by another Allison and awesome friend). I don’t have all the details together nor is my website for seniors ready but I know these three girls are dying to see something from our session so I thought I would put a post together. I actually have a much bigger post that I want to do from this session but that will have to wait until I have everything ready.

I would die and go to heaven (I’m pretty sure) if I had a picture like this of me at 17 or wait, 40… 40 would be better to have a picture like this. So expected at 17;)

Dear & Yonder Tour Dates

My sister must be so relieved to have her movie done and ready for the tour. We’ll be going to the Encinitas showing and Santa Cruz. If you want to see a beautiful movie (I know it’s going to be) about surfing and women, you need to go see this movie. You probably don’t even need to be a surfer (I am not:P) to enjoy it. Here are all the dates. Seriously… go see it.
