Family Photogaphy at the Beach | Ian, Katy & David

These three kids are so photogenic.  I loved the first time I photographed them and this time was no different.  Their mom wasn’t planning on being in the pictures but having kids just past this stage of her kids, I had to give her what I would love to have myself… just a hint of me with my kids.  Love each one.  One of my favorite shots is the last one with the three kids running to the water.  I take a lot of pictures like that but this one has a lot of life to it.  Love it:)

The beginning… maybe

I am only posting this on my blog because I feel like I need a little extra incentive to stay with this. And by “this” I mean a “diet”. I am notorious for getting all pumped up and dive in head first for about 2-4 weeks. And then I fade. Something happens, and I quit. I’m kind of at the point in my age where I am realizing that my body isn’t going to be able to overcome the junk I put into as well as it has in my 20’s and 30’s. And since having Slater 4 years ago, I really notice it and it kind of scares me.  I’m also kind of tired (and ‘kind of’ doesn’t really describe right… I hate it) of my clothes not fitting right or at all.  And I refuse to buy clothing any bigger than the size I am currently at.  I’m used to going in the dressing room and trying everything on in the dressing room and saying “yes, I love it” to each thing.  Now I say “no, that looks terrible”… or it doesn’t even fit.

In my mind, I don’t think I eat terribly except for sugar. Sugar, sugar, sugar… I am a total addict I must admit. I always try to cut back but each day I think ‘this little bit won’t hurt’. And that’s a few times a day everyday.  And to be honest, I never even thought about the carbs.  I am a cereal and bread lover for sure.

So, a few days ago I ran into a friend who just lost 17lbs in 4 weeks and looks great. She told me she was doing The Belly Fat Cure and so I looked it up when I got home. I’ve been pouring through everything the last few days and started it two days ago.

I only say “maybe” in the post title because who knows… Like I said, I am posting it on my blog for my legions of readers to keep me accountable. Because it’s going to suck if in a few months one of my clients or friends who has seen me recently, sees me looking the same:P But I’m feeling pretty good about it all actually. And after seeing this woman’s post with her progression photos… I think it might be doable.  She looks amazing!

So I am using week one’s menu (it’s super easy) and so far so good.  And I feel like I can make it through week one.  When I get to week two, I will see how I feel.  Just taking each day as it comes and not trying to think about this as my whole entire life (although I hope it becomes easy to where I can see that).  The other cool thing is that Jorge is in San Diego.  While I will probably never meet him, I just think that’s kind of fun.

If anyone wants to join me at anytime, post a comment or email me and we can keep in touch during the journey.

And just for fun, here is a favorite photo from a recent family session … I will post a full series in a few days.  But I LOVE this one:)

How darling is this picture??? It makes me smile every time i look at it:)  They kind of like their daughter… just a little bit!

San Diego Family Beach Photography | the Roberts family, La Jolla

I wish I had a picture of Kim and I when we were little…. I don’t darn it.  Our parents were friends as we were growing up and we spent summers at La Jolla Shores and vacationed in Borrego Springs in the blistering heat and just layed in the pool all day and I think a season or two of baseball behind home plate.

I don’t see them very often and I couldn’t rememeber what her boys’ names were even.   But it’s always fun to photograph people who you have some history with.  There is just something that you get to see when you are behind the camera concentrating on each person that you just normally wouldn’t if you were to just hang out for two hours.  I loved getting to ‘know’ each of her kids and how totally beautiful they all are.

I heard that getting to the shoot was a little rough on everyone (the getting ready part is usually the most stressful part) but you would never know it from my end.  Everyone was great and even their youngest who is four made it through over 2 hours of shooting and traversing around the La Jolla Cove area.

So Kim is dying to see some pictures and I didn’t want to disappoint so here is a giant sneak peek for her:)  And Kim, don’t hate me for your close up… you look awesome and I loved it too much to not include in my favorites.  And the one right below it, one of my fave couple photos. And Luke’s jump… one of the best ever. Rivals my boys and I had to train them how to jump for pictures so they looked rad;)  Ok… pictures!

the Bechtel family | San Diego Family Photographer, La Jolla

I am so behind on blogging.  I have a few family shoots stacked up behind this one to blog.  And of course all the personal stuff that I never get to.  But I have big plans.

This session was at Wind and Sea… I haven’t shot at this location for a long time (i go just a bit north).  And now I remember why.  There had to have been 10 other photographers there…with families.  You’ll never guess there was another sole there when you see the pictures but there was.  It is a very pretty spot though and I do love the rocks…. but I won’t be going back in November ever again.  I’ll go back to my secret spot which is just as pretty:)

The photos… love!  This family was very sweet and fun to photograph.  And their son is just so dang handsome.  I told him to make faces and he immediately did the ‘pulled eyes so I can only see the whites of them’ look.  I forgot for only a moment what ‘make faces’ means to a 9-10 year old boy:)

Lots of fun pictures… here they are!
