San Diego Family & Baby Photography | three generations in La Jolla

Not a big family session… just a mom, with her mom and her baby.  At the beginning of the session, Livia was not so sure about the photo plan.  But we took her to the beach for the second part of the shoot and then she really wasn’t sure.  So we went back to the neighborhood and she was all smiles, thanking us for removing her from the noisy, hot beach.  Regardless, she was a great and put on a good show.  Again, so many favorites.  Where to begin…

Yay so many fun shots.  And so many more.  I need to hire someone to narrow down my images because I just get to emotionally attached to them:)  Thanks so much for a fun evening ladies!  More to come soon enough.

Santa Cruz and Idaho Falls Summer Family Photo Sessions

I will be traveling a bit this summer.  If you or any friends who you think would love a family photo shoot live in Idaho Falls or Santa Cruz, I’ll be coming to town the following dates for just that.  And I may add in some Salt Lake City times for July 21 or 22nd.  So if  you are interested, let me know:)

San Diego’s Children’s museum… and a little photography

My friend Colleen suggested that we take all the kids to the new Children’s museum. The boys were totally resistant. They wanted to know exactly what was going to be there. We packed up and headed on over despite the reluctance. I didn’t know what to expect. There use to be a children’s museum when the boys were little and we went once. I don’t remember it being much of anything back then.

Well, this new one is AWESOME. The architecture of the place was very hip and cool. But the best part (for me) was the light in this place. I was so happy I brought my camera and a good lens. I was in heaven. Part of the place is outside on decks and then individual open rooms for other things. Everyone had fun.

The coolest thing… I asked about photographing families there and they gave me the contact to get it set up and it isn’t a big deal at all. It would be SO fun to photograph a family playing around. So many cool things and interesting looks. So if you are looking for something different for your family photographs, this the place we should go.

On to our pictures. It started off with painting the bug and clay. Slater is a two handed painter. One paint brush just doesn’t cut it.

Painting hands is fun too. Someone was a total mess by the time we finished with our first thing.

We got there just in time for the instructions for making clay cars. The boys thought it was going to dumb I think but they totally got into it. Tucker was very proud of his bug.

Dallon started off making a cool car with hollowed out windows but something went wrong and her balled up all his clay and started again… to create the ‘buffalo car’.

Slater loved the clay too and stayed here for quite a long time for a two year old… his time ended when throwing the clay as high up into the air as he could and it landed on all the nearby people started.

Then we moved over to this free for all room with a bunch of cushions that looked like it was supposed to make a building. The boys were rowdy boys and Slater was right there with them (but this is Tucker below).

We had heard about this ‘matress room’ and had to check it out. The waiting area is right next to all these graffiti climbing walls. We have some pretty great pictures here… the light was so awesome!13.jpg
And now onto the most favorite place of my kids. The Mattress Room.

Then onto a balcony for some bubble fun

and they had this great room with more fabulous light with these letters all over the table.

I have a ton of images that I totally love. We went outside to this enclosed playground after and the boys climbed for awhile. I am looking forward to going back and I think the boys are too.

Matson & Landon

Two cute and very different boys.  These two did not like the my camera too well.  We would get the boys smiling and playing and as soon as I put the camera up, straight faces.  It was really kind of funny.  We still managed to capture a little of each of them as they were on the move.  One to two year olds just kind of do their thing which is what I love about photographing this age.

I love the one that has bits of both of them in the scene with Landon in the background bending down (the last one).  Shots like that are my favorite twin shots.  It’s something about their unique situation of being twins but separate people… if that makes sense at all.  It’s crystal clear to me:)

Allison and Matt, here is your sneak peek.  I should have your online gallery ready over the weekend sometime so the rest are not far behind.  Thanks for a fun morning!
