San Diego Newborn Photographer | Baby Ellie @ 6 weeks

I just spent the last week in Las Vegas at WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Convention).  The first part of my week was amazing with the class that I took with Julia and Jeff Woods.  It was crazy perfect.  All business.  All amazing.  Then my friends started to arrive.  First up was a night with Daniela… Love meeting my online friends.  We had a great night and a fun night out at a great party.  Next up, my friend Traci arrived with her friend Jamie and we all shared a room together for the next 4 nights.  And lucky me, Traci brought her brand new baby.

Little baby Ellie is a dream of a baby.  I swear she actually doesn’t like to cry and tries not to at all costs.  Our last day we wanted to try a few things before we checked out.  It felt like we had tons of time but we didn’t and raced through getting some images of Ellie and Traci.  These are all in our hotel room (PS.  The Signature is a great place to stay in Vegas… no casino and no smoking and a great studio suite).  I should have taken a picture of our full room and how we set these shots up because our room was a disaster.

These are all BW because I LOVE them like this:)

I have a million more of course.  And some darling bath photos:)

San Diego Child & Family Photography | La Jolla, day 2

The second day of photo sessions was down on the beach just north of Wind and Sea in La Jolla.  It was a cold and kind of wet weekend but just dry enough and bright enough for perfect beach photos.  I actually do not like sunny days for photo shoots at the beach.   Overcast with a glow is ideal.  So this set of sessions was a little different than Saturday’s.  I photographed a couple of families, one mom who’s son couldn’t make it decided to come herself which is such and awesome idea (every mom should have great images of herself), a birthday boy, a family who was going to the hospital the next day to have their second little boy (congratulations you guys), and some darn cute kids.

I also couldn’t pick just one so there are at least two from each session.  I love love love location shooting.  So I definitely felt more in my element on the beach. But I think both sessions went pretty great.  Here’s day two:

jazmine ~ San Diego Children’s Photographer, Pacific Beach

I had a couple of fun shoots this weekend.  The first was with one of my favorite little girls (strawberry hat on my website intro page), Jazmine.  She is three now.  We played around and got some great shots even though she wasn’t feeling 100%.  These are some of my favorites.

Just us ~ Engagement Anniversary #16

I’ve told this story before but these are the pictures that we took today (even though it was supposed to be last Wed) to mark the 16th anniversary of Joe’s proposal to me at Crown Point.  We never remember our wedding anniversary.  This last year it took us a month to realize we had passed it.  Back in the day I was much more excited about the engagement than the actual wedding anyway.  Precisely why I don’t shoot weddings.  Engagements, yes… weddings, no.

So just a recap… every year we take the camera and the tripod (just in the last five years have brought a tripod) down to Crown Point and we do a series of family pictures.  We have one from every year after the engagement (no pictures of the actual engagement).  The pictures are always the same but so very different from no kids to one to two to two to two;)  and now three.  This year’s theme was running.

All of the group shots are on a timer.  So are all anticipating the timer and never at the same time.  I love love love that Slater is jumping in them too.

And running… another one not so easy to time and get the focus right but this is a favorite.

One of my goals is to go through our personal photos as soon as I take them, narrow them done, do a little editing at least and create the folder along with a blog post.  I love making photo books at the end of the year (although I have only managed it twice) and I think if I can get my own photos more organized, it will be easier to make them in December:)
